Research, Monitoring & Evaluation

Research monitoring and evaluation is a growing expertise of ECI. We offer customized studies based on client’s specific needs. ECIs research evaluation and monitoring team includes internationally certified assessors who have competencies in designing research instruments and evaluation tools. The firm has a senior panel of monitoring experts and a field team of trained research associates and enumerators in all major districts of Pakistan who have expertise in conducting KIIs, FGDs and household interviews. 

 

Data Collection for Mother & Child Health Weeks Evaluation

ECI facilitated Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (University of Punjab) in their end of programme evaluation contracted to them by UNICEF. In each of the selected district, ECI conducted:

 

  • 70 KAP surveys with mothers,
  • 10 surveys with LHWs,
  • 3 FGDs (with LHS, LHW and Vaccinator)
  • 6 KIIs with health managers
  • 01 case study of mother from each district

Location:  Baluchistan (Kech and Zhob) and 4 Districts of Sindh (Nosheroferoze, Shikarpur, Karachi South and Dadu).

End of Programme Evaluation for CRCFA Programme of UNICEF

 

ECI conducted an end of programme evaluation for a 7-year initiative of UNICEF. Under this evaluation, a detailed survey was conducted. Over all the survey comprised of:

 

  • 1134 KAP survey questionnaires
  • 24 FGD’s
  • 63 IDI’s
  • 2 Meetings
  • 106 Observation checklists
  • 3 Case Studies

Location: Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab in the targeted districts of Lasbela, Ghotki, Khairpur, Rajanpur, Rahimyar Khan and Bahawalpur.

Beneficiaries:

community, community influential, district and national level government departments, staff of Implementing Partners and UNICEF staff at Country Office & Provincial Offices.

Baseline Survey for Trocaire

The survey comprised of KAP Survey and Organizational Capacity Assessment (OCA) of Trocaire Partner Organizations in which 6 organizations were assessed.

 

Beneficiaries: 351 respondents (179 males, 172 females)

Location: Villages of Dadu, MirpurKhas, Sanghar and Umerkot

Mapping and Scoping Study of Small and Medium Enterprises for TiE Islamabad

A baseline survey of Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs) was conducted. The SME sector in Pakistan is marred by issues hindering its growth which include (i) access to finance; (ii) access to inputs; (iii) access to markets for the products. For this purpose, this survey was conducted for mapping the SMEs, MNCs, MFIs and BDSPs along with identification of high potential value chains in the district.

 

Location: Layyah and Jamshoro

Beneficiaries: 66 SMEs in Layyah and 59 in Jamshoro

Online Survey under Pakistan Youth Advocacy Project - Plan International, Pakistan

In view of the upcoming elections in 2018, this project was designed in order to mainstream youth voices in the political process. For this purpose, ECI was contracted for the consultancy ‘Taabeer Se Taameer Tak’ under which mapping of political manifestos of 5 major political parties of Pakistan (PTI, JI, PML-N, PPP and MQM) was done and a comprehensive research toolkit was developed. As part of the research process:

  • 57 group discussions
  • 7 FGDs
  • online survey

Location: Nationwide

Beneficiaries:  5603 youth

Centre Assessment & Value Chain Research of Key sub-sectors - Afghan Aid

A value chain analysis was conducted across three sub-sectors: horticulture, agronomy, and non-farm enterprises and a framework was developed for giving stakeholders a deeper understanding of the market actors and important linkages under the livelihood development program.

Survey for Identification of Employable Skills - HDF

A market assessment was conducted for identifying the skill gaps in the local markets and how to effectively bridge that, while at the same time improve the economic conditions of young girls and women.

 

It encompassed:

  • 8 FGDs with young females aged between 11-25 years
  • meetings held with different market stakeholders: industries, SMEs, TVET Institutes, Labor Department and Chamber of Commerce.
  • Demand and supply side assessment
  • income profiling

Research on State of Cooperation between TVET Institutions and Potential Employers in KP & FATA - GIZ

The research was carried out for GIZ where Public TVET institutions, Private TVET institutions and Enterprises that employed TVET graduates were consulted. A total of 105 in depth interviews and 130 Stakeholder Surveys were conducted.
